Mobile Diesel Mechanic — Port Arthur, TX
When a truck is down on the shoulder, the repair has to come to it. We run a service truck out of our Port Arthur yard on FM 365 and work a 75-mile radius from there — the whole Golden Triangle, west on I-10 through Winnie to the Baytown corridor, and east across the Sabine into Lake Charles and Sulphur.
(409) 460-5040Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm · Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm
What the service truck can actually do
The scanner travels with the truck, so a mobile call is not limited to tires and jump boxes. We pull fault codes and read live data on scene, troubleshoot electrical and sensor faults, replace starters, alternators, and batteries, service air brakes and air systems, change brake chambers and slack adjusters, handle lighting and wiring, prime and deliver fuel, and fix or replace tires. Air leaks, no-starts, dead batteries, blown lights, and flats are the calls we get most, and most of them end at the roadside rather than on a hook.
What has to come to the shop, and why
Some work needs a bay, a lift, and time. Clutch replacement, driveline work, fifth wheel and king pin repair, DPF cleaning, welding and fabrication, and DOT inspections are shop jobs — DOT inspections by law, the rest because doing them on a shoulder is how a repair turns into a comeback. We will tell you on the phone which side of that line your problem falls on before we roll, not after.
Honest about after hours
We are not a 24/7 operation and we will not advertise as one. Shop hours are Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday morning. After hours, calls get answered when we can answer them. If we can roll, you will know inside the first two minutes. If we cannot, you will hear that instead of being left to wonder while your clock runs. A driver who gets a straight no at 9pm can call the next shop. A driver who gets a maybe loses the night.
Who you get on the phone
Marcus handles the calls. He dispatches the carrier's nine trucks every day and drove semis himself for six years, so you are not explaining a derate or a dropped load to somebody who has never sat in one. Tell him what the truck is doing and where it is sitting and you will get a straight answer on whether we can roll and roughly when — including a no, if that is the answer.
What to have ready when you call
Tell us the make and model, the year if you know it, and where the truck is sitting — mile marker, exit number, or a cross street. Say what it is doing rather than what you think is wrong: cranks but will not catch, dropping air, dash light and a derate, flat on the passenger-side drive. That gets the right parts on the truck the first time instead of turning one trip into two.
