How we get to Baytown
Straight west on I-10, then down Highway 146 or Spur 330 into the industrial district. Highway 146 crosses toward La Porte and the Ship Channel; I-10 continues west toward Houston proper.
The trucking around here
Baytown is one of the densest industrial concentrations on the Gulf Coast — a very large refining and chemical complex plus the plants along Cedar Bayou and the Ship Channel. The truck traffic is relentless: plant maintenance contractors, tanker and vacuum operators, crane and rigging support, and the freight moving in and out of the terminals.
What breaks on this stretch
Same pattern as the rest of the plant corridor, amplified: idle time at gates, short low-speed moves, and heavy loads on rough industrial pavement. Aftertreatment and DPF problems, air system leaks, brake wear, and suspension and air bag failures dominate. On I-10 itself it is tires and cooling.
