How we get to Port Arthur

FM 365 puts us between Highway 73 and Highway 347, which is most of how trucks move through this town. Highway 73 runs west toward Winnie and east into the refinery district; Highway 87 carries the run down to Sabine Pass; Twin City Highway threads Mid-County north toward Nederland and Port Neches. Nothing in Port Arthur is more than a few minutes from the yard.

The trucking around here

Port Arthur is refinery country. Motiva, Valero, and the plants along the ship channel and down toward Sabine Pass generate constant heavy truck traffic — tanker work, plant maintenance contractors, crane and rigging outfits, mat haulers, and the vacuum and roll-off trucks that service all of it. Add the turnaround seasons, when contractor fleets triple overnight, and this is a town where a truck sitting down is costing somebody a gate time.

What breaks on this stretch

Plant work is brutal on trucks in a specific way: short runs, long idles at gates, and constant low-speed maneuvering on rough plant roads. That combination plugs DPFs, cooks batteries and alternators, chews suspension and air bags, and finds every chafed wire in a harness. The salt air off the Gulf does the rest — corroded grounds and connectors are the single most common electrical fault we chase in this town.
